But in fairness, so do a lot of other kids in India. This is a classic instance of how Indians take what might be a bland recipe and add spices or chilies to bump it up a notch. In India, this is made with a processed cheese called Amul cheese. We feel about it sort of as you do about Velveeta–who knows what’s in it, but boy is it a lovely, guilty pleasure! In this Chili Cheese Toast recipe, I’ve used a mix of Mozzarella and parmesan to approximate the sharp taste of Amul cheese. This dish makes the perfect snack or a quick side dish option. It only takes 5 ingredients to make, and thanks to the air fryer you can toast it fully assembled in just 5 minutes!
How To Make Air Fryer Chili Cheese Toast
In a small bowl, mix together the grated cheeses, butter and chilis. You want to make a bit of a paste with all this before you spread it on the bread, because if you don’t, you will have airborne shreds of cheese flying about the air fryer.
Spread this paste on to the 2 slices of sourdough bread.
Place the slices of bread on in the air fryer basket and cook at 330F for 5 minutes, until the cheese has melted.

Of course! Bread toasted in an air fryer has an AMAZING texture and crunch to it. And since the bread toasts while laying flat, you can layer whatever you want on top of the toast. I like butter, cheese, seasonings, or whatever else sounds delicious. Just make sure to mix seasonings into something like butter or cheese, otherwise, the air fryer will blow the seasonings all over the place when it’s toasting the bread.

In most cases, it should only take 5 minutes to toast bread in an air fryer. It just depends on the thickness of the bread and how toasted you like your bread. I’d suggest sticking with the 5 minutes and then toasting for an additional minute or two if you prefer yours a little crispier.
