I can’t believe I’ve never shared my nougat recipe with you before. What was I thinking?? I discovered the technique when I was trying to make another recipe for popcorn marshmallow lollipops. It went completely wrong, and all the popcorn fell off the sticks whilst I was taking the photos, but I found that the melted marshmallows transformed into a denser (is that even a word?), less squishy form once cooled....
For this sabji I prefer to use boiled aloo (potato) as it reduces the cooking time (Fenugreek doesn’t take much time to cook like other green leafy veggies). Moreover boiled aloo gives a nice texture to the sabji binding the onion-tomato masala nicely. Ingredients: 2 medium sized potatoes boiled, peeled & chopped into cubes 1 bunch of Fenugreek (methi), separate the leaves from the stem, use leaves only (around a cup & half) 1 teaspoon ginger paste 1 teaspoon garlic paste 1 teaspoon green chili paste 1 medium sized onion finely chopped 2 medium sized tomatoes finely chopped 1 teaspoon cumin seeds (zeera) salt to taste 1 tablespoon oil for cooking Masala: 1 teaspoon red chili powder ½ tablespoon coriander powder 1 teaspoon dry mango powder (Amchur) ½ teaspoon garam masala Method: In a pan heat some oil, once hot add the cumin seeds....

For Ugadi, we prepared aratikaya bajjis which make a great side with pulihora. Here goes the recipe. 1 In a vessel, combine besan, rice flour, salt, red chilli pwd, ajwain, baking soda and enough water to make a slightly thick smooth batter. 2 Heat oil for deep frying in a heavy bottomed vessel and once oil is piping hot, reduce to medium flame. Dip each plantain slice in the batter till its well coated and place in hot oil....
5 from 1 review Shichimi togarashi is probably one of the most interesting spice blends I keep in the kitchen. It mixes hot and cool flavors, from chili and sesame seeds to seaweed and citrus. It’s one of the few spice mixes that, despite being a blend, you can see the different colors and textures of the components (it’s usually not a very fine powder). I add it over a lot of different things, especially eggs....
Welcome to your complete guide to Baking with Yeast. Many of you have responded to a question I ask in my baking email series… what baking recipe intimidates you the most? A majority say yeast breads. Baking with yeast used to intimidate me too. Something about yeast seems really scary! And, what’s worse, some yeast recipes are complicated and arduous. But once I began to understand that yeast is simply another ingredient in the bowl, my fears subsided....
You may recognize this banana cupcake recipe if you have a copy of Sally’s Baking Addiction (on page 136 and topped with Nutella frosting!). We even used this banana chocolate chip cupcake batter to make a Banana Chocolate Chip Layer Cake on page 69. Topped with milk chocolate frosting, of course. Tell Me About These Banana Cupcakes Flavor: Even without the frosting, these cupcakes are full of flavor. (Think of them as cakey banana chocolate chip muffins!...
I always cook rice when I’m making curry. It’s an automatic thing. Even if we’re having naan breads or chapatis, I go into autopilot and put on a pan of boiled rice. So it was actually kind of nice for once, having the recipe out in front of me to follow step by step, to take me out of that autopilot setting. And it made such a lovely change! If you saw my first review of HelloFresh about a year and a half ago (the Cajun Pork with Bulgar Wheat and Garlicky Greens post) that was the first time I’d ever cooked with bulgar wheat (which is now a store cupboard staple – love making tabbouleh!...

Eggless pancakes happen to be a favorite evening snack or mid morning snack for Nehal. Today is a school holiday due to the bandh called for by the Seemandhra leaders on the Telangana decision. I’m a sucker for carrot cake, and this easy tray bake version is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!! It’s fluffy and light and contains a few ingredients to ensure a deliciously moist sponge that won’t dry out in the oven: Raisins infused in orange juice – just leave them to soak for a couple of hours for lovely plump raisins! Vegetable oil (rather than butter) – often butter is added to cakes for extra flavour, but there’s so much flavour in this cake already you don’t need it....
